T O P I C R E V I E WMike_The_FirstHas anyone requested/received an autograph from Neil Armstrong's assistant, Vivian White (especially since Neil's passing)?I know she signed a lot of letters in response to those sent to or about Neil, but has anyone ever actually written to request her autograph?DirkI have a signed letter of her dated 2009. Is there a difference a signature then or now?Mike_The_FirstI'm just wondering if she's amenable to signing for the sake of signing.I wouldn't be surprised if that's changed since Neil passed away.Robert PearlmanOut of curiosity, is there a particular reason you're interested in her autograph?Mike_The_FirstThe history of it.Ideally, I'd love to get her to sign my copy of "First Man."KevmacThat's actually a pretty cool idea. As close to Neil Armstrong as anyone will ever get unless family.Robert PearlmanJames Hansen's next book, "Dear Neil Armstrong" might be an even more appropriate medium in that case.Mike_The_First quote:Originally posted by Kevmac:That's actually a pretty cool idea. I thought so — I mean, for years, a response from her was a response from Neil, as far as letters to his office went. And, if memory serves, she was also one of the sources for the book.I just wanted to see if anyone else had done it or had any luck.Mike_The_FirstI didn't post it at the time, but after just reading that she passed away a couple of weeks ago, I felt that it'd be appropriate to share in her memory.Instead of sending a book, I opted to send a label to act as a makeshift bookplate, since it's a lot less hassle for the signer. I received it back signed & personalized within a few weeks:(I blacked out the personalization for personal reasons.)While I appreciated Robert's suggestion and thought about it quite a bit, I ended up deciding to go with my original idea and stuck it in my copy of "First Man."DirkHave also several letters signed by her.
